How to Mix & Drink Marine Essence Isotonic Seawater
The recommended proportion is 1 portion of Sea Water to 3 portions of water. With this proportion we obtain an isotonic drink that will not cause any adverse reaction. If we want to improve the experience, we can add lemon juice
or some fruit juice.
The term "isotonic" originates from the Greek words "isos," meaning equal, and "tonos," meaning tension. It refers to the state of liquids or solutions that have the same osmotic pressure. Osmosis, a passive diffusion process where water (a solvent) moves through a semipermeable membrane from a less concentrated solution to a more concentrated one, occurs without a net movement of water molecules between these solutions.
Drinking isotonic seawater involves diluting it to 9%, which matches the salinity level of the human body. This process replenishes essential salts in a balanced manner, supporting vital bodily functions.
To make isotonic seawater:
1. Start with 100ml of Sea Water (Hypertonic) and 300ml of Distilled Water (or fresh water), and weekly increase up to 250ml - 500ml of Hypertonic Sea Water, depending on your tolerance.
2. Stir the mixture well to ensure thorough blending.
3. This will yield isotonic seawater, which has the same salt concentration as human blood (about 9 grams of salts per liter).
4. Use this isotonic solution for health treatments or experiments where balanced saline solutions are needed.
Store any leftover isotonic seawater in a clean, sealed container for future use.
Don't forget to add lemon for taste!
